Rain, Rain & More Rain!!!

I've never seen so much rain fall in such a short time! We had a bucket in our backyard that was empty on Sunday so this bucket was a great way for us to measure how much rain we had in 24 hours. I was shocked to discover that we had 114 mm of rain by Monday night. As we drove around on Tuesday it was amazing to see how things looked after the rain and I've posted a couple pictures for you all to see. There is a picture of the bridge found on the Jimmy Rowe's Pond Walking Trail in Whiteway. The other picture is the road around the pond in Cavendish. I spoke to many people who had pumps in their basements pumping out the water and many of these people said they have lived here for 20 years and it was the first time they ever had to do this. If you just drove along the road you would see big holes in the sidewalks, ditches that were overflowing, and debris on the roads. It's now Thursday and the waters have receeded and things are pretty much back to normal. All I can say is "Good thing it wasn't SNOW!"
